The New York Times is reporting the Mets have signed utility infielder Alex Cora, who last played for the Boston Red Sox to a one-year, $2 million deal. Cora started at shortstop for Boston in last year's American League Championship Series Game 7. Last season he batted .270 in 75 games. with nine RBI.Cora is 33, plays second base and shortstop and his career highs for games played were in the 2003 and 2004 seasons with the Dodgers. He is a light hitter and best known for his glove and his bunting ability.
