METS' LOWE EXPECTATIONS: REPORTS SAY DEAL COULD BE CLOSE

The Boston Globe is reporting this morning, through unnamed baseball sources, that the Mets and free agent righthanded starting pitcher Derek Lowe are "closing in on a deal," reportedly three years in length, with a vesting option for a fourth and worth between $14 and $16 million annually.
The Globe item comes one day after Yahoo! sportswriter Gordon Edes reported yesterday that the Mets were in "deep negotiations" with Lowe and hours after the New York Daily News's Jon Harper wrote today that an agreement between the Mets and Lowe could be reached "between Christmas and New Year's."
