The Mets have added two new players to the mix. Early this week, they have signed lefty reliever
Casey Fossum, the former Rays and Red Sox hurler, to a minor league deal and have invited him to Spring Training. The team has also signed reserve outfielder
Cory Sullivan, the former Colorado Rockie, to a one-year, $600K deal, with incentives that could sweeten it. The puzzling thing is, Mets' GM
Omar Minaya already acquired a backup outfielder in
Jeremy Reed in the megadeal that netted the Mets relievers
J.J. Putz and
Sean Green. With other outfielders
Fernando Tatis,
Daniel Murphy,
Ryan Church and
Carlos Beltran already on the roster, seems like the trade winds might soon be blowing someone out of Queens to somewhere else...
